Contract semiconductor manufacturers' revenue is expected to set a record again next year

While the global electronics supply chain faced a shortage of microcircuits, a corresponding shortage in manufacturing capacity has allowed contract semiconductor manufacturers to raise prices. This resulted in an increase in the top 10 manufacturers' total annual revenues of more than 20% on an annualized basis in both 2020 and 2021. Such data is provided by the analytical company TrendForce. According to her forecast, the annual revenue of the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers in 2021 will exceed $ 100 billion, and in 2022 will reach $ 117.69 billion, an increase of 13.3% over the current year.

TrendForce experts note that the combined capital expenditures of the top 10 manufacturers in 2021 exceeded $ 50 billion, up 43% over last year. As the construction of new plants is gradually completed and equipment is commissioned next year, total capital expenditures will rise by 15% and will be in the range of $ 50-60 billion. TrendForce expects overall capacity throughput for 200mm and 300mm inserts to increase by 6% and 14%, respectively, next year. The difference in favor of the latter is due to their greater profitability.

In terms of component shortages, it is expected that the situation will begin to improve in the second half of next year.
