In Moscow and the Moscow region, MTS has launched a monthly rental service that operates on the current iPhone line. However, in the future, it is planned to expand the list of regions and brands of smartphones.
The service was launched in partnership with the startup Arenter. The iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 are initially available for rent for periods ranging from one to twelve months. iPhone 11 in the minimum configuration costs 4.2 thousand rubles. per month, and iPhone 13 Pro Max - from 8.9 thousand rubles. At the same time, MTS assures that the client is not responsible for abrasions and minor scratches that occur during use.
According to MTS, the service may be in demand among "young people who are not interested in loans and permanent obligations", and those who want to test the flagship gadget before making the final decision on its purchase. The operator hopes that this service will provide additional traffic to the online store and will increase the base of users of flagship smartphones.
MegaFon will also launch a smartphone rental service in the near future: “It will not be limited to the latest iPhone models - buyers will be able to rent a device of any brand. The service will be available in all regions of the country, ”said Vladimir Skurikhin, CEO of MegaFon Retail.
Tele2 sees no point in launching such a service, VimpelCom replied that it does not offer such a service. Samsung and re: Store have a subscription-based gadgets service.
