AMD RX 6500 XT entry-level graphics card slashed in Germany

The AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card is now priced well below the suggested retail price (MSRP) in Europe. Mindfactory, Germany's largest online PC retailer, is priced at 169 euros (about 1188.07 yuan), which is 35% lower than the suggested retail price of 229 euros (about 1609.87 yuan).

Foreign media believe that the price reduction of the RX 6500 XT reflects the trend of the graphics card market. The RX 6500 XT’s first price cut may be because AMD’s entry-level graphics card is awkwardly positioned, and its performance is far less than Nvidia’s entry-level graphics card RTX 3050, which has a suggested retail price of $250 (about 1592.5 yuan).

The RX 6500 XT uses AMD's Navi 24 GPU, which is AMD's smallest RDNA2 chip at present. It is manufactured using TSMC's 6-nanometer production process, with 5.4 billion transistors and a die size of 107 square millimeters. The RX 6500 XT uses 1024 stream processors, 4GB 64bit GDDR6 video memory, and the performance is similar to the GTX 1650 SUPER. It is reported that the RX 6500 XT GPU was originally designed for the notebook platform, so it uses 4 PCIe channels and lacks some codec functions.

The suggested retail price of the RX 6500 XT in China is 1599 yuan, but each AMD partner usually sells it at 1799 or 1899 yuan.
