U.S. ITC launches Section 337 investigation into specific mobile electronic devices

On April 28, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) voted to launch a 337 investigation on certain mobile electronic devices (Certain Mobile Electronic Devices) (investigation code: 337- TA-1312).

On March 30, Japan's Maxell, Ltd. of Japan filed a Section 337 investigation application with the US ITC, claiming that the product exported to the US, imported into the US, and sold in the US infringed its patent rights (the US registered patent numbers 7,199,821, 7,324,487, 8,170,394, 8,982,086, 10,129,590, 10,244,284), requesting the US ITC to issue a limited exclusion order, restraining order.

Lenovo Group, Lenovo (United States) Inc. of the United States, and Motorola Mobility LLC of the United States have listed defendants.

The U.S. International Trade Commission will set a deadline for the investigation within 45 days of filing the case. Relief orders issued by the USITC in 337 cases are effective from the date of issuance and final on the 60th day after the date of issuance, except where USTR vetoes for policy reasons.
