Intel releases 12th generation Core HX processor

Intel officially released the new 12th generation Intel Core HX processor family, a total of 7 new products, the official said that the mobile platform package uses a chip comparable to the desktop. HX processors span the Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 variants, all delivering unlocked performance right out of the box.

12th generation Core HX series processor model parameters:

  • i9-12950HX (vPro): 16 cores, 24 threads, 30MB L3 cache, up to 5GHz, 32EU core graphics
  • i9-12900HX: 16 cores, 24 threads, 30MB L3 cache, up to 5GHz, 32EU core graphics
  • i7-12850HX (vPro): 16 cores, 24 threads, 25MB L3 cache, up to 4.8GHz, 32EU core graphics
  • i7-12800HX: 16 cores, 24 threads, 25MB L3 cache, up to 4.8GHz, 32EU core display
  • i7-12650HX (vPro): 14 cores, 20 threads, 24MB L3 cache, up to 4.7GHz, 32EU core graphics
  • i5-12600HX (vPro): 12 cores, 16 threads, 24MB L3 cache, up to 4.6GHz, 32EU core graphics
  • i5-12450HX: 8 cores, 12 threads, 24MB L3 cache, up to 4.4GHz, 16EU core display

Intel says the 12th-generation Intel Core HX processors deliver a 65 percent performance boost for multithreaded workloads with more core counts, larger memory, and I/O support while leveraging Intel's hardware thread scheduler to fully unleash performance The blistering performance of the cores and energy-efficient cores allows professionals to create, program, render and work with extreme efficiency in the office, at home or on the go.

12th Generation Intel Core HX Processor Features:
  • Up to 16 cores (8 performance cores and 8 energy efficiency cores) and 24 threads, with a processor base power of 55W.
  • 16 processor direct-attach PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes, and 4x4 dedicated Platform Controller Hub (PCH) PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes for increased bandwidth and faster data transfer.
  • The industry's first full line of unlocked and overclockable processors.
  • Supports up to 128GB of DDR5 / LPDDR5 (up to 4800MHz / 5200MHz) and DDR4 memory (up to 3200MHz / LPDDR4 4267MHz), supports Error Correcting Code (ECC) function.
  • Features Intel Wi-Fi 6/6E (Gig+) for better connectivity and support for the new 6GHz band.
Many OEM manufacturers such as Dell, HP, and Lenovo are expected to launch more than 10 workstations and gaming devices equipped with 12th-generation Intel Core HX processors this year.
