Apple's M2 MacBook Pro 13 review lifts the ban

The new MacBook Pro 13-inch equipped with an M2 chip is available for order, starting at 9999 yuan, and will be officially released on June 24 (Friday). Now, the evaluation of this notebook has been lifted.

Overall, the new MacBook Pro 13 is a configuration upgrade, upgrading the original M1 chip to M2. Although its name is MacBook Pro, it is more like an active cooling version of the MacBook Air.

The biggest highlight of the new MacBook Pro 13 is the M2 chip. Compared with the M1, the M2 still has 8 CPU cores but has a maximum of 10 GPU cores. Apple claims that its multi-threading performance is increased by 18%, and the graphics speed is increased by 35%. It also supports 24GB of memory, double the memory bandwidth, and support for ProRes encoding and decoding.

The following are the benchmark results of foreign media Engadget:

As shown in the picture above, the single-core performance of the M2 exceeds that of the M1/M1 Pro/M1 Max due to the architecture upgrade.

As far as Geekbench is concerned, M2 single-core 1938 points, M1 Max 1783 points, leading 9%; M2 multi-core running points 8984, 25% more than M1 (7174), but not as good as M1 Pro (11777), not to mention M1 Max (12693). In terms of GPU, the M2 scored 27304, 47% higher than the M1 (18556), but not as good as the M1 Pro (38359) and less than half of the M1 Max (60167).

On Cinebench R23, the M2 has a 6% increase in single-core and a 17% increase in multi-core compared to the M1.

Compared with the PC platform, the single-core performance of the M2 is higher than that of the i7-12700H on Geekbench but not as good as the i7-12700H on Cinebench R23. In terms of multi-core performance, the i7-12700H significantly leads the M2 with 14 cores and 20 threads.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with a 13.3-inch LCD screen with an initial resolution of 2560 x 1600, 500 nits of brightness, and a wide color gamut (P3). The interface includes two Thunderbolt 4 / USB4, equipped with a touch bar, with a thickness of 15.6mm and a weight of 1.38kg.
