Apple released new models of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series this week. Pre-orders for the new models began on Friday, and the first orders will reach customers tomorrow. However, some lucky people have already got the new phone in advance, and even now bloggers have released a disassembly video of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The teardown video, posted by the YouTube channel PBKreviews, gives us a general look at the internals of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. While the iPhone 14 Pro Max is almost identical to the iPhone 13 Pro Max on the outside (at least when the screen is off), there are some notable differences on the inside.
The teardown video shows that most of the internal components of the new iPhone can be seen with the screen removed, and at first glance, the layout of most components looks similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. There's a large L-shaped battery, and on the left is the logic board with "A16 Bionic" printed on it.
This new logic board cover is actually a metal plate with graphite pads on it to transfer and dissipate heat. Apple said at the press conference that all iPhone 14 models have better cooling systems that can maintain high-performance output for longer.
As previously reported, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 4,323mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max's 4,352mAh battery. Of course, Apple claims that the new phone will last longer thanks to the optimization of the A16 Bionic chip, which is made using a 4nm process.
A big difference in this year's Pro models is the new TrueDepth camera, which consists of a Face ID sensor and a front-facing camera. This time Apple placed the proximity sensor under the display so that all components fit in an area 30 percent smaller than the notch on the iPhone 13 Pro.
As we can see from the teardown, the new TrueDepth camera module is actually much smaller, which allows Apple to create a smart island. As for the rear camera, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has the same three rear lenses as the previous generation, but with a new 48-megapixel wide-angle lens and a much larger sensor, which is also clearly visible from the inside.
Some other notable components are the satellite connection module, and there is no SIM card reader (this machine is the US version).
