The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the second issue of the "Monitoring Report on Communication Characteristics and Technical Capabilities of Domestic Mobile Phone Products" in 2022, which analyzes the development of new mobile phones in China in the second quarter of this year.
The report pointed out that in the second quarter of 2022, a total of 89 mobile phone products applied for network access testing, of which 49 were 5G mobile phones, accounting for 55.1%, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%, and the same month-on-month; 37 4G mobile phones, accounting for 41.6%, a year-on-year decrease 0.2%, down 2.3% month-on-month; 2G mobile phones accounted for 3.4%, and no 3G mobile phones applied for network access testing.
In terms of frequency bands, among the 49 5G mobile phones connected to the network in the second quarter, 100% supported n41, 95.9% supported n78, 30.6% supported n79, 89.8% supported n28, and 89.8% supported n1. The proportion is 93.9%. Among the 37 4G mobile phones, 97.3% support band41, 54.1% support band1, and 91.9% support band3.
In terms of operating systems, smartphones accounted for 83.1% of the mobile phones that applied for network access testing in the second quarter. Among these smartphones, Android systems accounted for 90.5%, of which Android 12 systems accounted for 58.2%.
According to a previous report, on July 19, Tian Yulong, spokesman and chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in the first half of this year, China's 5G investment was 89.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 29.6%. A total of 1.854 million 5G base stations have been built and opened, and the number of 5G mobile phone users has reached 455 million.
