It is reported that this is China's first self-designed TSN chip, marking the official entry of domestic chips into the commercial field of TSN, kicking off the large-scale commercial application of domestic TSN, and breaking the long-term monopoly of European and American companies in this field.
Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) is an international standard technology that realizes the unification of industrial network communication protocols and standards such as global industrial control, automobile control, and aircraft control. It is the supporting network technology of my country's industrial Internet. With the development of new-generation information and communication technologies such as 5G Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet, the determinism and microsecond-level interaction characteristics of TSN have led to the realization of science fiction technologies such as unmanned driving, edge computing, and virtual reality. At the same time, with the help of TSN, it breaks the boundary between wisdom and machines and promotes the digital transformation and intelligent manufacturing upgrade of traditional discrete industries.
The KD6530 chip is the first domestic TSN chip released by Beijing Dongtu Technology Co., Ltd. It has TSN features such as time synchronization, traffic scheduling, frame preemption, traffic policy and filtering, and frame redundancy. This test comprehensively evaluates the function, performance, and conformance of IEEE 802.1AS, 802.1QBV, 802.1QBU, 802.1QCI, 802.1CB, and other protocols. After evaluation, the KD6530 chip was officially added to the Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) industry chain directory and obtained the chip module certificate.
According to the latest report of the global market research company, the global TSN market size will reach 1 billion US dollars in 2026 and 2.8 billion US dollars in 2030. However, due to the late start of domestic related industries, the core components represented by TSN chips in this field have long been monopolized by European and American companies such as Broadcom, Meiman Electronics, and NXP. In order to break this monopoly, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the "Time Sensitive Network (TSN) Industry Chain Directory Plan" in 2021, aiming to promote the industrial expansion and application of TSN, and accelerate the maturity of the domestic TSN industry chain. At present, a number of white papers on TSN technology and industry development have been published successively, and the development of standards for various types of TSN equipment has been organized.
In May 2021, the commercial product evaluation of the TSN Industry Chain Directory Program was officially launched. Up to now, nearly 20 products have been tested and added to the list, and the evaluation scope covers chip modules, switches, gateways, end devices, controllers and other types.
