Sony releases two new CFexpress Type A memory cards


Sony China officially released two new CFexpress Type A memory cards, namely CEA-G320T and CEA-G640T.

Sony said that the product has a maximum write speed of 700MB/s, supports VPG400 video performance speed certification, can record video at a speed of 400MB/s, and supports 4K 120p high-bit rate video shooting. In addition, the TOUGH specification means it is waterproof, dustproof (IP57) and rugged certified for long-term stable recording in a variety of environments.

Taking the Alpha 7S IIl as an example, the following formats require the use of a CFexpress Type A memory card:

  • Video shooting: XAVC SI mode, using All-Intra intra-frame compression, shooting 4K120fps; XAVC SI mode, using All-Intra intra-frame compression, shooting HD 240fps.
  • Photo shooting: High-speed continuous shooting of more than 1000 uncompressed RAW images.

In terms of heat dissipation, the new CFexpress Type A memory card is equipped with several heat sinks, which use metal materials to transfer the heat generated by the memory card to the outside during high-speed transmission of large amounts of data, allowing users to record 4K 120p for long periods of time. .

The CEA-G320T will be launched in early October 2022 with a retail price of 4,999 yuan ; the CEA-G640T will be launched in late October with a retail price of 8,999 yuan . In addition, the retail price of CEA-G160T is adjusted to 3299 yuan.

It should be noted that if the CEA-G640T memory card is used with the following cameras, the firmware must be updated to the corresponding version: Alpha 1 (Ver.1.31 or later), Alpha 7S III (Ver.2.11 or later), FX3 ( Ver.2.00 or later).
