Vietnam's FPT company produces the country's first semiconductor chips

Vietnam's FPT company produced the country's first batch of semiconductor chips. FPT Semiconductors, a unit of Vietnamese technology firm FPT, on Wednesday, launched its first production line of semiconductor chips for medical devices, as it strives to enter the highly competitive global semiconductor industry.

FPT Semiconductor said in a statement that it aims to supply 25 million chips worldwide by 2023, with the U.S., Japan, and others as major markets for chips. The chips will be used in everything from consumer electronics to aerospace. These chips are in high demand due to supply chain disruptions since the pandemic.

According to public information, FPT, formerly known as The Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT for short), is the largest information technology service company in Vietnam, with its core business focused on providing ICT-related services.

The 2021 Vietnam report shows that FPT is the 16th largest private enterprise in Vietnam. In 2021, FPT's revenue reached VND 35,657 billion, an increase of 19.5% over 2020; pre-tax profit reached VND 6,335 billion, an increase of 20.4% over 2020.

FPT is the largest communications technology company in Vietnam's private sector, with more than 40,000 employees, including 17,728 technical employees, and 48 offices in 26 overseas countries. At the same time, FPT Group is in a leading position in Vietnam's software export, system integration, software development, information technology services, and other business fields.

The capabilities of the FPT Group are recognized by more than 700 major companies worldwide, as confirmed by a client list of more than 600 major companies worldwide, 100 of which are included in the Global Fortune 500: Toshiba, Hitachi, Nissens, Deutsche Bank, Unilever, Panasonic...etc.
