Google Fitbit Versa 2 watch bricked after v35.72.1.23 firmware update

Google launched the latest Fitbit Versa 4 smartwatch in September and opened up pre-orders for the Fitbit Inspire 3. However, a large number of users reported technical issues with the Fitbit Versa 2 and felt they were being ignored. Currently, the Fitbit team has not addressed this issue.

Fitbit Versa 2 update 35.72.1.23 caused the device to stop working completely. Some users have even reported issues with the device's key features like sleep tracking and heart rate. The update disappointed many consumers, leaving Versa 2 devices crippled and bricked.

In some cases, the touch screen does not work, so users cannot swipe on the screen to perform tasks. While most complaints were made to Fitbit Support, their solution was to issue a coupon for a 35% discount on a new Fitbit device, or to factory reset the Fitbit device. Of course, not all users were affected, and the update has since been pulled.

Google introduced Fitbit sleep tracking earlier this year, which analyzes users' sleep patterns, behaviors and habits by introducing sleep profiles. The feature was released for power users on several Fitbit devices, including the Versa 2, although it doesn't appear to be working in recent updates.
