The growth of the smartphone market in Egypt during 2020 despite the epidemic: Realme is the most growing


The smart phone market in Egypt achieved growth during the past year 2020 despite the decline in the smart phone market in most countries of the Middle East and Africa during 2020 due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus, according to the latest report from IDC, the global leader in publishing statistics related to information and communication technology. 

The IDC report shows that the smart phone market in Egypt achieved a growth of 10.6 percent year on year in 2020, as smart phone manufacturers succeeded in selling 11.9 million phones in Egypt during 2020.

Samsung maintained the first place in the smartphone market in Egypt during the year 2020 with a share of 25.2%, despite its low share compared to 2019, which amounted to 29.8%, followed by the Chinese company, Oppo, in second place with a share of 21% compared to 22.3% compared to With 2019, then Xiaomi came in third with a rate of 15 percent compared to 9.7 percent during 2019, and Realme's Chinese share rose to 13.2 percent during 2020 compared to 3.3 percent in 2019, and Infinix has also succeeded in increasing Its share reached 11.1 percent of the smartphone market in Egypt during 2020, compared to 8.1 percent in 2019. 

It seems that the increase in sales of low-cost smartphones with a price of less than $ 200 was one of the most important reasons for the growth of smart phone sales in Egypt during the year 2020, as IDC said that it increased by 17.7 percent on an annual basis, and smart phones with a screen measuring between 6.5 To 7.0 inches, a significant growth in 2020 amounted to 47.9 percent compared to 14.5 percent in 2019, and IDC expects a growth in phone sales in Egypt during the current year 2021 by 2.5 percent compared to last year 2020.
