With weaker and cheaper AMD processors, we have a hard time. There are no such ones in the new generation Ryzen 5000, Ryzens 3 from the 3000 generation have been unavailable for a long time and recently the APU has not been available either.
We usually don't buy the Ryzen 3 3100 or 3300X, and the Ryzen 3 3200G and Ryzen 5 3400G chips, or APUs of the Zen + generation, also gradually disappeared from the market, while ordinary APUs with Zen 2 cores are a matter of a rather gray market. However, they can be obtained in a limited selection and at rather higher prices.
But now we are talking about the Ryzen 5 3500X, which was previously only listed on the Chinese market at a price of 1,099 yuan, or about $ 170. Now, however, this processor has quietly spread to other markets, including ours, where we should ask for a price well below about CZK 4,800, which will come up with a more powerful version of the Ryzen 5 3600.
The difference between the Ryzen 5 3500X and 3600 is mainly that the 3500X is a purely six-core processor (6C / 6T), while the 3600 has an SMT (6C / 12T), so if the price difference between them is small to negligible for the customer, there is nothing to solve. However, the situation is that in the vast majority of stores, prices are set so that both processors cost essentially the same, and in the best case, we save about 400 CZK.
On the other hand, in terms of practical game tests performed by Tom's Hardware server, the Ryzen 5 3500X is mostly fully equivalent to the 3600 model, as six cores are usually enough today and the bars of both chips are very similar (3500X loses only 100 MHz on the turbo). However, if we do not explicitly want to save four hundred crowns, then the choice is still clear because Ryzen 5 3600 has a higher overall potential for the future.
At present, however, in both cases, these are the only two 7nm processors from AMD, which can be purchased relatively commonly and which offer a price (i) below CZK 5,000. Only Ryzen 3 1200 and Ryzen 5 1600/2600 based on older processes and especially versions of Zen architecture are cheaper.
We can hope that AMD will decide to launch cheaper processors of the upcoming Warhol generation and we are also waiting for the promised launch of the APU Cezanne on the free market, which could together complement the outdated and sparse offer of cheaper CPUs and APU APU in general.
