Zoom launches desk phone to make video calls

With the Covid-19 infections more controlled, many companies are resuming their face-to-face activities. However, thousands have commented that, after the good results they registered with remote work, they will promote a hybrid model that will allow their employees to work a few days a week at home. That means video calling will continue to be part of the communication tools, and Zoom is ready to continue capitalizing on that trend with a new desk phone.

The company introduced its Zoom Phone Appliances, a new category of hardware that it said is designed for the hybrid workforce, from home offices to shared meeting spaces, in different types of industries.

This communication system, the company said, integrates Zoom's technology with Poly and Yealink hardware with the intention of providing video and audio capabilities on a touch screen placed in an all-in-one desk phone solution that allows from conducting meetings from HD video to making phone calls or using it as an interactive whiteboard.

The traditional workplace is evolving and adapting, and our goal is to empower the workforce to accomplish more by eliminating the lines between voice and video. The new Zoom Phone Appliance program features a selection of specially designed Zoom Phone hardware from Poly and Yealink, which streamlines communications, eliminates friction, and enables a powerful communications experience, said Graeme Geddes, director of Zoom Phone and Zoom Rooms at Zoom.

The company shared that Zoom Phone Appliances will be offered as a service that includes the licensing, installation, use, and management of the device. He also highlighted some of the most important features of this solution, including:

Zoom Phone Appliances are always on and ready for instant communication and collaboration. The company notes that it is easy to initiate on-the-spot or scheduled video calls, as well as make and receive phone calls, check voicemail, and collaborate virtually by sharing content and annotations.

Centralized management through the Zoom administration portal, including automatic and remote updates.

No additional licenses are required, just log into a Zoom phone device with your existing account to start communicating.

The user can personalize their experience and sync items such as calendar, status, meeting settings, and phone to provide a unified communications experience.

Zoom finally highlighted that the interactive whiteboard touchscreen makes it easy to collaborate from an interactive whiteboard that can be easily exported and shared. All this in certified hardware.

The offering for these devices consists of Poly's CCX 600 desk phone and CCX 700 desk phone with an integrated video camera.

We are excited to be among the first to integrate a native Zoom experience into our Poly CCX family, such as Zoom phone devices. This brings the Zoom platform we all know and love front and center on the device's touch screen, delivering an experience powerful and immersive, said John Lamarque, vice president, and general manager of Poly's Voice Collaboration.

In turn, on  Yealink's VP59 smart videophone, Alvin Liao, the company's vice president of product, said: “We are proud to introduce the new, reliable, and cutting-edge VP59 video phone, a Zoom phone device. The VP59 videophone touch screen will feature the technology from Zoom's industry-leading video communications platform, which will provide customers with an easy-to-use interface and intuitive experience.

Zoom Phone devices are available through the Zoom Hardware-as-a-Service program, as well as through authorized Poly and Yealink resellers.
