Flexible smartphones Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 with the One UI 3.1.1 update received a new function that should allow extending the life of the devices' batteries.
It is called Protect battery and is located in the system settings. The essence of its operation is very simple - do not allow the smartphone battery to be charged by more than 85%. Numerous studies show that for lithium-ion batteries, charging up to 100% increases the load on the battery and shortens its life.
This feature is not new for Samsung, but previously it was only found in tablets. Now it has migrated to smartphones, but, it seems, so far only in the new Galaxy Z. Whether it will remain exclusive for them is not yet clear.
