Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch presented on Google Wear OS platform

Fossil has officially unveiled the Fossil Gen 6, the latest smartwatch and its first model on the Google Wear OS software platform. True, the device uses Wear OS not the latest version, but Wear OS 3 has already been promised - the corresponding update will be released in 2022.

Fossil Gen 6 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100+ SoC, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal flash memory. It also claims support for fast charging " twice as fast as the leading smartwatches ." In the interpretation of the creators, this means that Gen 6 charges 80 percent in 30 minutes. Autonomy - 24 hours or " several days in Extended Battery Mode ".

Fossil Gen 6 are equipped with a microphone and a loudspeaker, so they support voice calls without a smartphone (although there is no eSIM, nothing prevents you from using instant messengers and Wi-Fi), from the wireless interfaces there is also Bluetooth 5 LE and NFC, there is also a built-in GPS receiver. The device supports Google Pay and works with the Google voice assistant. To track the vital signs of the user, there are heart rate and SpO2 sensors, sleep monitoring is supported, as in many other smartwatches, there are many sports modes for training. There is water protection, although not the most serious (3ATM).

Fossil Gen 6 has two formats - 42 and 44 mm, but the display is the same - AMOLED with a diameter of 1.28 inches, with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. For control, there are three buttons on the right side face. The watch is presented in several color and strap options. The stainless steel version costs $ 320, the rest is $ 300. Retail sales in the US will start on September 27, in other regions, apparently, a little later.
