How much will the performance of the video card increase in five years?

The fact that new graphics drivers often increase the performance of video cards in certain games is not a secret. But today we have the opportunity to assess the driver's impact on gaming performance over a five-year span.

For these purposes, the authors of the Testing Games channel took a GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of memory and tested it in many games with three different drivers: GeForce Game Ready Driver 385.28 (2017), 431.60 (2019), and 471.68 (2021). You can see the results below.

As you can see, there is also a difference in favor of more recent drivers. It is not huge, but, firstly, almost always a more recent driver provides greater performance (in this test, PUBG became an exception), and secondly, in five years the increase can still be 5–20%.
