iPhone 13 will be more expensive than iPhone 12

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the high demand for finished devices on the market, a shortage of chips and components has formed, which, in turn, has led to an increase in their cost. For example, many laptops have risen in price by 5-10% since the beginning of the year, and the same is likely to happen with the iPhone 13.

The level of increase in the cost of new Apple smartphones has not been named, but the source has no doubt that it is inevitable. Many component manufacturers have raised their prices, and for example, TSMC, the only supplier of SoCs for the iPhone, has already notified its customers of a 20% increase in the cost of semiconductor products. This is on average - for each TSMC customer, the new price will be calculated individually, depending, for example, on the volume of orders. Apple is a key customer of TSMC, accounting for more than 20% of all orders, so the cost of components for the American company is expected to increase by only 3-5%. Nevertheless, other components for the iPhone 13 are also getting more expensive, so the total premium for Apple smartphones of the new generation may turn out to be more than 5%.
