Kalashnikov has released a smart gun on Android for hipsters


The Russian concern Kalashnikov announced the release of the MP-155 Ultima smart rifle, the first demonstration of which took place a  year ago at the Army-2020 forum. 

The serial version of the MP-155 Ultima is available for pre-order in Kalashnikov. Market online store at the recommended retail price of 130 thousand rubles. For comparison: the most expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max for 512 GB is estimated in the official Apple store at 139,990 rubles, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max for 256 GB - at 119,990 rubles. 

The new smart gun is based on the classic MP-155 hunting rifle. It received an onboard PC with a digital display, clock, compass, stopwatch, timer, shot counter, and cartridge remaining indicator. The gun uses a 12/70 cartridge, the magazine capacity is 7 rounds (+1), the barrel length is 510 mm, the length of the entire weapon is 810/1020 mm, the gun weighs 4.2 kg.

As noted by the press service of Kalashnikov, the serial sample has been redesigned in comparison with the prototype:

Over the past year, the onboard PC has been radically redesigned - now it is on the Android system. The design has also been adapted to accommodate the use of a detachable buttstock - only with a pistol grip. " 

The onboard computer can synchronize with mobile devices and offers a training mode. As previously reported, the company is positioning the development as a smart gun "for hipsters." The device is aimed at that part of the audience who "was born with gadgets and cannot imagine themselves without them."
