Lenovo first smartphones based on Snapdragon 898 will be Lenovo Legion 3 Pro

The CEO of Lenovo's China smartphone division said the new Legion 3 Pro gaming smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 898 SoC.

In his Weibo post, he mentioned a heavily upgraded GPU for the upcoming SoC. The new phone should have active cooling: the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro (or Lenovo Duel 2) had two fans for maximum cooling efficiency.

So far, the performance of the Snapdragon 898 is anyone's guess, however, according to rumors, the new platform will be 20% faster than the Snapdragon 888. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 898 will have a three-cluster architecture. The platform will include a Cortex-X2-based super-core, large Cortex-A710-based cores, and small Cortex-A510-based cores.

Since a senior Lenovo representative mentioned this so early, it's logical to assume that the Legion 3 Pro will be one of the first phones based on this platform.

The first smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 898 should be Xiaomi 12, which is expected to be announced in November .
