Microprocessor sales are expected to exceed $ 100 billion for the first time this year

According to the analyst firm IC Insights, the microprocessor market continues to grow steadily. Analysts expect that by the end of the year the growth will be, although not as large as last year, but also quite significant - 14% against 16%. IC Insights explains the growth by the fact that the pandemic "has increased the dependence of mankind on the Internet."

IC Insights predicts that microprocessor sales will surpass $ 100 billion for the first time this year, reaching $ 103.7 billion. This forecast has been raised compared to that published in January.

In quantitative terms, 2.5 billion microprocessors will be shipped, 11% more than last year. It is not hard to understand that the average selling price is expected to rise. It will be 4%.

Looking at the period from 2020 to 2025, analysts are forecasting a CAGR of 7.1%. If that prediction comes true, microprocessor sales will reach $ 127.8 billion in 2025. For comparison: in 2020 they amounted to $ 90.7 billion.
