Russia: Rostec has created Spectrum, a domestic manufacturer of 4G, 5G and 6G solutions

The Rostec State Corporation announced the creation of the Spektr company, which is to become a domestic manufacturer of 4G, 5G, and subsequent generations of mobile communications solutions. 

The state corporation owns 100% of the shares. Spectrum will implement plans for the development of 5G and ensure serial production. As noted by the press service, the disposal of Spectra was the final stage of Rostec's preparatory work for the creation of Russian 5G technologies.

In the near future, Spectra plans to create technical and production cooperation of Russian equipment manufacturers around the company in accordance with the system project under development for the production of solutions for 5G communication networks. 

The Spektr company was headed by Vasily Brovko, who became the chairman of the board of directors. Brovko initiated the 5G technology development project and oversaw it from Rostec. Under his leadership, a roadmap for the development of end-to-end digital wireless technologies in Russia was developed and adopted by the government in 2019. 

After signing an agreement between Rostec and the government on the development of a high-tech area of ​​the economy, "Mobile communication networks of the fifth generation," in July 2019, he became a co-chairman of the 5G Architectural Council on the part of Rostec and oversaw the development of a roadmap for the development of 5G technologies in Russia, approved by the government in November 2020.

According to Kommersant, Russian operators have already been given a condition when extending permits for the use of 800 MHz and 2600 MHz for 4G LTE from 2023 they must use Russian equipment for the further deployment of 4G. At the moment, Russian operators use equipment from ZTE, Nokia, Huawei, and Ericsson.
