Samsung aims to sell 6.5 million of these phones this year

At the recent Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, the company not only announced the new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 but also announced how many foldable smartphones it plans to sell this year.

The South Korean tech giant plans to sell about 6.5 million foldable smartphones by the end of this year. The majority of sales are likely to come from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, which are not yet on sale.

It is worth noting that in 2019 the company shipped only 700 thousand Galaxy Z Fold smartphones, but now Samsung has significantly more models in the range. Pricing has become more attractive, and smartphones have received new features, including stylus support in the Galaxy Z Fold3. It's also worth adding that the company is not launching the flagship Galaxy Note line this year, so the focus in the second half of the year will be on new foldable phones.

Samsung currently dominates the foldable smartphone market. According to analysts, the company will retain its leadership in the coming years due to the lack of decent competition in this segment. After the South Korean company took first place in this market, it is actively trying to make bendable smartphones mainstream.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G starts at $ 1,800 in the US, while the Galaxy Z Flip3 starts at $ 1,000. Smartphones are already available for pre-order, and the company offers to exchange them at a discount for four other devices ( they accept smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches ).

The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 will go on sale on August 27th.
