This will be the Google Pixel 6, a smartphone that will use AI all the time

Although the date of its launch is far away, the company has already provided information on its teams. Most of the companies in the world decide to wait until the day of the launch of their devices to show all the features. However, Google has taken a different approach and tends to reveal some details ahead of time. But this time he decided to go further and reveal many of the features of his Pixel 6,  smartphones that will use AI all the time and which, according to what is known, will be officially launched in the fall.

Google has shown how its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be. In detail, the Pro model has three cameras, the standard model only two, as this one lacks a telephoto lens. But it did not share specific information on megapixels or sensor size, only that they will allow 150% more light to enter.

About the design, Pixel 6 has a smaller screen of 6.4 inches with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Its screen is perfectly flat, with tracks with a matte finish. While the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, this panel is very slightly curved around the edges, blending in with shiny, polished aluminum rails on the side. There will be slightly different color options for the two types of phones.

In terms of software, the phones will use Google's new Material You user interface which, among other features, will make these devices "built with the most layers of hardware security of any phone," the company said. The panel will also have an in-display fingerprint sensor.

There may not be much more to say about the Pixel 6. However, the company stated that it has not revealed everything it has up its sleeve and that, for example, it will not share more of the new features and equipment that will be available. Rumors indicate that the cameras will be better.

The specialists of the smartphone market consider that the changes that the Pixel are receiving respond to the fact that Google wants to be a stronger competitor in the market and stop attracting only fans of the brand. In fact, it should be remembered that an official store has opened in New York and there will surely be more in the near future.

Processor

One of the most outstanding features of the new models is that they work with the first chip for smartphones designed directly by Google, which was named Tensor and which is focused on processing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning tasks, for which, according to the company, users can expect improvements in the camera, voice commands, translation, subtitles, and dictation.

As an example of this, Google carried out a demonstration with a blurred photograph of a small child, who had been captured that way because the child was moving but, thanks to the work of his chip , a second version of the photo could be obtained with the child's face was sharper than was achieved because, automatically, several images are captured with the main sensor, which are then combined into one. The process that, in addition, will now also be available for video.

It also demonstrated improvements in speech recognition using only half the power compared to previous Pixels. Google showcased this technology with a new live caption feature using the phone's sound system. Tensor, they said, can transcribe and translate what's playing at the same time, without using the cloud for processing.

And, according to Google, a Tensor is a system on a chip (SoC), not just a processor. Although it is not clear which components are made by Google and which are licensed by others.

Beyond the company is launching its own version of the processor, what is expected with this change is that the Pixel 6 delivers higher processing speed compared to its predecessors, especially considering that Google has an advantage when it comes to issues such as AI or Machine Learning.
