Venus Optics Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D and 25-100mm T2.9 Cine lenses with Canon RF mount are white

Venus Optics has released white versions of the Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine and OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine lenses. Lenses in Piano White are priced at $ 649 and $ 6,000, respectively.

The Laowa OOOM 25-100mm T2.9 Cine lens was previously available with Arri PL, Canon EF and Sony E mount. The new variant, available only in white, is equipped with a Canon RF mount. According to the manufacturer, this is a versatile 4x zoom lens that covers the Super35 + frame and allows 4K resolution when mounted on an Alexa Mini camera, 5K when mounted on a Red Gemini camera, and 8K when mounted on a Red Helium camera. The maximum light transmission T2.9 is maintained throughout the entire zoom range. A feature of optical photography is strict parfocality, due to which the subject remains in focus when the focal length is changed.

The lens comes with a 1.4x expander and 1.33x anamorphic adapter. The expander turns the lens into a full-frame lens, and the anamorphic adapter allows you to capture a wide-format cinematic frame with an aspect ratio of 2.4: 1.

The manufacturer describes the Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D Cine as one of its most popular ultra-wide-angle cine lenses. The new variant is said to pair well in appearance with cameras like the RED Komodo Stormtrooper. The small size of the lens also matches the compact design of the RED Komodo, making this combination well suited for certain types of photography.

Incidentally, it is currently the widest fixed focal length cine lens with a built-in Canon RF mount. On Super35 frame, it provides a 120 ° field of view, and high light transmission T2.9 allows shooting in low light conditions. The lens belongs to the Zero-D line, which includes wide-angle lenses with distortion corrected. The lens is 54mm long, 62.4mm in diameter, and weighs 247g, well suited for when the camera is mounted on a crane or drone. The lens is compatible with 55mm filters.
