Xiaomi 12: Three 50MP cameras, 5x zoom and 120Hz LTPO screen

According to the latest information published by the well-known insider Digital Chat Station, the company will use three image sensors of the same resolution in the Xiaomi 12 smartphone. The main, ultra-wide-angle, and periscope cameras will be equipped with image sensors with a resolution of 50 megapixels.

The latter will presumably provide 5x optical zoom. The source clarifies that at the prototype stage, Xiaomi implemented a 10x optical zoom in the periscope module, but at the same time received an impractical focal length.

Over the past three years, Xiaomi has actively used various 108MP image sensors, including in smartphones Xiaomi Mi 10, Xiaomi Mi 11, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. However, telephoto and ultra-wide-angle modules continued to be equipped with sensors with rather low resolution from 8 to 13 megapixels.

Earlier, Digital Chat Station announced that the Xiaomi 12 will be the world's first smartphone to be equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera. Such a sensor is already installed in the engineering sample, information about which the source has. Probably, a sensor of such a high resolution will be used in the older model, Xiaomi 12 Ultra.

The Xiaomi 12 is expected to be the first to receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC. The Xiaomi 12 lineup will feature a Samsung E5 LTPO display with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. This will ultimately help reduce the power consumption of the device.

Digital Chat Station was the first to accurately report the specifications and release dates of the Redmi K30, K40, Xiaomi Mi 10, and Mi 11.
