Xiaomi Mi 12 will receive a modern display, but again with a hole

Xiaomi has been testing the Samsung E5's Super AMOLED display for a long time, which is made using LTPO technology. During testing, the characteristics of the screen that will be used in the new flagship were determined.

A well-known Chinese insider under the nickname Digital Chat Station reported that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will receive a hyperboloid screen (as Xiaomi calls displays curved on the sides) with an adaptive image refresh rate, as well as a single hole for the front camera, which is very small.

We have previously reported about the use of the Samsung E5 screen in Xiaomi Mi 12, but now there is information that it will be curved, and the camera will definitely not be sub-screen. It seems that Xiaomi will leave this technology for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 for the time being. Despite the fact that the technology has been perfected for a long time, Xiaomi says bluntly that the sub-screen camera is not suitable for those who like to take selfies. This is probably why the manufacturer does not want to use the technology in the flagship series.

It is not yet known how small the opening for the front camera will be. The Redmi K40 series smartphones have the smallest hole in the world with a diameter of 2.98mm. Presumably, Xiaomi Mi 12 will receive the same size front camera or even smaller.

According to rumors, Xiaomi Mi 12 will be released in December and will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8450 or Snapdragon 898 SoC.
