Additional 1TB and 2TB SSDs Released for PlayStation 5

Nextorage, a Sony subsidiary, has released a solid-state drive that can be used with the PlayStation 5. This comes a few days after Sony officially announced PS5 support for M.2 SSD expansion. The new Nextorage NEM-PA PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD series is available in 1TB and 2TB versions.

The 1TB SSD delivers sequential read/write speeds of up to 7300/6000 MB / s, while random read speeds are estimated at 750,000 / 1,000,000 IOPS. It is designed to record 700 TB of data.

The performance of the 2TB module is slightly better. The sequential read/write speed is up to 7300/6900 MB / s, respectively, and the random read / write speed can reach up to 1 million IOPS. In terms of durability, the 2TB version is rated to write 1400TB of data. There is 2 GB of DDR4 RAM for caching.

Both units come with an aluminum heatsink. Once installed, players can use the extended storage to download, copy and run PS4 and PS5 games and other multimedia applications on the PlayStation 5. Players can also freely move games and applications between internal and external storage.
