Apple Watch Series 7 gets the exact same processor as last year's Apple Watch Series 6

The company yesterday announced the Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatch, which, contrary to rumors, has not received a completely new design. What's more, the Apple Watch Series 7 got the exact same processor as last year's Apple Watch Series 6.

During the presentation, Apple did not say a word about the performance of the Apple Watch Series 7. Usually, the company claims that its new devices are faster or more energy-efficient, but this topic was not discussed on stage. On the official Apple website, there is no mention at all of the platform on which the Apple Watch Series 7 is built.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has confirmed, based on the latest version of Xcode (a platform that allows developers to create apps for Apple devices), that Apple Watch Series 7 has the same processor as last year's Apple Watch Series 6.

Both Apple Watch Series 7 and Apple Watch Series 6 have the "t8301" processor, which is the code name for the processor in the Apple S6 SiP. Apple Watch does not have the usual printed circuit board; instead, it uses the so-called "system-in-a-box" (SiP).

While the iPhone 13 and iPad mini 6 will go on sale next week, Apple said the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available later this year, with no further details.
