Apple's share of the market for wearable devices for the year decreased from 34.1% to 28.2%

Sales of wearable electronic devices in the second quarter of 2021 increased by 32.3% compared to the same period in 2020 and reached 114.2 million units. Despite early signs of spending cuts in the consumer segment, wearable purchases remained strong throughout the quarter as consumers "went out again to keep fit." At least, this is the opinion of the specialists of the analytical company IDC, who prepared the corresponding report.

Growth in the headphone and smartwatch categories was 39%. At the same time, the sales of bracelets remained at the same level. Analysts attribute this to the ongoing transition to watches and the lack of significant new bracelet brand announcements in recent quarters.

The leader by the results of the quarter is Apple. However, it lost part of the market, increasing sales in annual terms by only 9.3%. By the way, this is the worst indicator in the top five. Apple's share for the year decreased from 34.1% to 28.2%.

The share of Xiaomi, which ranks second, increased over the year from 11.8% to 12.3%, because the Chinese manufacturer was able to increase sales by 37.8%.

The third place is taken by Huawei, which in a year was able to increase sales by 38.5%. Its share increased over the year from 9.8% to 10.2%.

This is followed by Samsung and Imagine Marketing. The former increased sales by 37.4%, the latter - by 478.0%. As a result, Samsung's share increased from 8.2% to 8.5%, while Imagine Marketing's share increased from 0.9% to 4.1%.
