Experts of the analytical company IDC summed up the results of the second quarter of 2021 not only in the market of external data storage systems but also in the market of Ethernet switches and enterprise-level routers. According to their calculations, switch sales reached $ 7.4 billion. This figure is 10.8% more than in the second quarter of 2020. Sales of enterprise-grade routers fell 0.5% year-on-year to $ 3.9 billion.
Analysts recall that Ethernet switch sales rose 7.6% in the first quarter. If we take the data for the entire half-year, the growth compared to the first half of 2020 is equal to 9.3%. Cisco remains the largest supplier of Ethernet switches. Having increased sales by 4.5%, it occupies 44.1% of the market. Cisco's share of the router market is estimated at 34.2%.
Huawei is the second-largest supplier of Ethernet switches. Having increased sales by 3.5%, it occupies 11.1% of the market. Huawei has a 33.4% share of the router market. This is followed by Arista Networks, H3C and HPE, and Juniper. The distribution of the market between the main participants is clearly shown in the diagram.
