Gartner estimates, smartphone sales in annual terms grew by 10.8%

Analyst firm Gartner claims that worldwide sales of smartphones to end users in the second quarter of 2021 amounted to 328.8 million units, which is 10.8% more than in the same period last year. Analysts note that growth has been achieved amid the negative impact of the pandemic and the lack of components.

The market leader is Samsung. However, the share of the South Korean manufacturer for the year decreased from 18.4% to 17.6%, although it managed to increase sales from 54.759 to 57.748 million units. But the share of Xiaomi, which ranks second, increased over the year from 9.5% to 15.5%. This is a consequence of the increase in sales from 28.289 to 51.073 million devices.

Apple is in third place. Over the year, she increased sales from 38.386 to 49.258 million units. As a result, Apple's share increased from 12.9% to 15.0%.

The top five also included Oppo and Vivo with 10.2% and 9.8% of the market, respectively. A year ago, Oppo's share was 8.0%, while Vivo's share was 7.7%.
