More than half a million mobile robots will be shipped to warehouses around the world in 2030

The supply chain industry has stepped up its warehouse automation efforts, given the e-commerce boom and labor shortages. In addition to solutions such as voice picking of goods and exoskeletons that take some of the workloads off humans, mobile robots have proven to be the most common productivity solution in the warehouse sector. According to the consulting firm ABI Research, the compound annual growth rate of global shipments of mobile robots to warehouses from 2021 to 2030 will be almost 40%. This means that in 2030 more than half a million mobile robots will be shipped to warehouses around the world.

In addition to mobile robotics, the supply of solutions such as automated storage and retrieval systems (AS / RS) is booming. Analysts expect the market, led by companies such as Swisslog, Bastian Solutions and Körber, to surpass $ 18 billion by 2030. This will be preceded by an increase of 9% per annum from 2021 to 2030. RS consists of a variety of computer-controlled systems to automatically place and retrieve cargo from specific storage locations, ideal for large volumes of cargo moving into and out of storage.

It remains to add that in 2020, 95 billion parcels were delivered worldwide. This volume is expected to double by 2026, with a CAGR of 14% from 2020 to 2026.
