Radeon RX 7950 XT for $ 2,000 and RX 8950 XT for $ 2,500

A new piece of data on future AMD video cards has appeared on the web. Let's start with the RDNA 3 architecture, which will be the foundation of the next generation of Radeon graphics cards. According to many previous leaks, the Radeon RX 7000 lineup on this architecture will be released late next year.

While earlier there were rumors about a 2.5-fold increase in productivity, now the source says a gain of at least 60%, which is also a lot. At the same time, one does not contradict the other, so it is quite possible that the conditional RX 7900 XT will surpass the RX 6900 XT twice or more, but the gain should be at least 60%.

At the same time, the source equates the $ 600 Radeon RX 7700 XT with the top-end GeForce RTX 3090, and this is already quite impressive.

It is also important to note that the top-end GPU RDNA 3, which is already in development, has undergone significant changes in recent times thanks to new developments from AMD. Among other things, the new architecture should bring significant performance and efficiency gains in ray tracing technology. However, the new GPUs will consume more power. We have already heard about this, so, apparently, it is really worth focusing on the conditional 400 W or more for top adapters from both AMD and Nvidia.

Bu what will definitely not please anyone is the information about price increases. Considering that there is at least a year before the cards are released, this is clearly not very good news. Prices will rise in almost all segments, and noticeably. The source says that the last time this price increase was with the release of the GeForce RTX 20 line, and we remember that this did not lead to the best sales.

As you can see in the table, the flagship Radeon RX 7950 XT can allegedly cost an incredible $ 2,000, and its successor will cost $ 2,500. And these are the recommended prices, and we have heard more than once that the shortage of chips will not end next year, so it’s simply scary to think about real prices.

At the same time, the performance gain is really expected to be impressive. A $ 400 Radeon RX 8500 with an RTX 3090 performance level seems like a bit of a fantasy right now, but keep in mind that such an adapter will ship in 2024 at best.

Another curious nuance is that with the arrival of the RX 8000 generation, cards will simply not be more affordable than $ 300, since they will be replaced by hybrid processors. True, it is unlikely that by that time the GPUs in the APU will be able to compete with the current RTX 3060 and RX 6600 XT.
