RED V-Raptor ST camera is capable of shooting 8K video

RED Digital Cinema has unveiled the $ 24,500 V-Raptor ST. For this amount, the buyer gets the opportunity to shoot 8K video at 120 fps in RAW format with 16-bit data representation.

The camera uses a CMOS image sensor with dimensions of 40.96 x 21.60 mm and a resolution of 35.4 megapixels (8192 x 4320 pixels). Its dynamic range is 17 stops. There is a Canon RF mount in front of the sensor. It is possible to install other lenses using adapters.

The proprietary REDCODE RAW codec is used for data compression. By lowering the resolution to 2K (2048 x 864 pixels), you can increase the frame rate to 600 fps. Recording to CFexpress memory cards is carried out at a speed of up to 800 MB / s.

The camera body is made of aluminum alloy. The camera weighs 1.8 kg. The batteries are connected to the V-Lock interface, specially optimized for Micro V-Lock batteries. Power can also be supplied from other sources via the 6-pin DC-IN connector. The voltage should be between 11-17 V.

The camera is equipped with two 4K 12G-SDI outputs and an XLR audio interface with phantom power via an adapter. 1080p video can be streamed over Wi-Fi for live preview. The built-in 2.4-inch display is used to navigate menus and view current settings and connections.

Via Wi-Fi or USB-C, the camera can be linked to Android and iOS devices to control settings and view live images.
