Ricoh GR IIIx compact camera launched at € 999

Ricoh Imaging has introduced the Ricoh GR IIIx camera. According to the manufacturer, it is "a high quality digital compact camera with a newly developed 40mm EGF GR lens, combining professional-grade image quality with a compact and lightweight body, ideal for street photography."

The camera is a development of the Ricoh GR III model , equipped with a 28 mm EGF lens. The new lens of seven elements in five groups allows for a perspective that is more in line with how the photographer sees the scene with the naked eye. It includes two aspherical elements to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration. In macro mode, the closest focusing distance is 12 cm. The built-in ND filter allows you to shoot in bright light with the aperture open two stops wider than it would be without the filter, to maintain a beautiful background blur effect.

The camera has the same 24.24 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor without an anti-aliasing filter as in the Ricoh GR III, but the data is now processed by a new GR Engine 6 processor and a proprietary accelerator. The camera is equipped with a hybrid autofocus system with face and eye detection functions, as well as an image stabilization system for three degrees of freedom by shifting the sensor.

The sensitivity range is ISO 100-102,400, the shutter speed range is 1 / 4000-30 sec. Timer shooting, continuous shooting and video shooting with Full HD resolution and 60 fps are possible. A single charge of the DB-110 battery can take approximately 200 shots.

The camera is equipped with a three-inch LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1.037 million points, Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b / g / n, Bluetooth v4.2 BLE and USB 3.0 (USB Type-C connector with DisplayPort Alternative Mode), SD card slot , SDHC and SDXC with USH-I support. There is no built-in flash, but an external flash can be connected to a hot shoe. It also accepts an optional viewfinder for € 300. In addition to the viewfinder, the camera can be supplemented with an attachment that increases the EGF up to 75 mm, which requires an adapter. The attachment costs € 250, the adapter € 50. Also offered are two covers, costing 50 and 80 euros.

With dimensions of 109.4 x 61.9 x 35.2 mm, the camera with a battery and a memory card weighs 262 g. It is estimated by the manufacturer at 999 euros. Acceptance of pre-orders has already begun.
