Server sales of the middle segment fell by 30%

Experts of the analytical company IDC have summed up the results of the second quarter of this year in the server market. According to their calculations, server sales were $ 23.6 billion, down 2.5% from the same period last year. For the quarter, 3.2 million servers were shipped. This is just 0.1% more in annual terms.

It is noteworthy that the lower segment, approaching $ 20.0 billion, recorded an increase of 5.6%, while sales in the middle segment fell by 30.0%, to $ 2.4 billion, and sales in the upper segment - even by 32.7%, to $ 1.3 billion.

The market leaders are HPE / H3C and Dell Technologies, which hold 15.7% and 15.6% of the market, respectively. With such a small difference, analysts cannot guarantee that it is greater than the error in calculations, so they put both companies in the first place. A year ago, the share of HPE / H3C was 14.8%, and the share of Dell Technologies was 13.8%. This is followed by Inspur / Inspur Power Systems with 9.4%, Lenovo with 7.0%, and IBM with 5.0%. A year ago, the shares of these companies were 10.5%, 6.1%, and 6.0%, respectively.
