The specialists of the analytical company Strategy Analytics have summed up the results of the first half of 2021 in the market of image sensors for smartphones. According to their calculations, this market has grown by more than 10% compared to the same period last year.
The first place among manufacturers is occupied by Sony Semiconductor. It accounts for 42% of all revenue. It is followed by Samsung System LSI and OmniVision Technologies. In total, the three largest manufacturers have accounted for nearly 80% of the global smartphone image sensor market.
According to analysts, market growth is due to the active introduction of multi-module cameras. Further growth is expected to come from higher resolutions, but the slowdown in the smartphone market raises doubts about the longer term for the smartphone image sensor market.
