The other day, news spread across the thematic resources that Xiaomi allegedly began to actively block smartphones illegally imported into different countries. The news claimed that users in Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan and even in Russia (more specifically, in Crimea) complain about blocking smartphones.
Xiaomi has clarified the situation by issuing the following succinct statement:
Not a single Xiaomi smartphone in Europe and the CIS countries has been blocked, and the company does not plan to take such actions.
