Google released Android 12

Simultaneously with the official introduction of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones, Google yesterday released the stable version of the Android 12 operating system. Recall that Google presented the final Android 12 on October 4, publishing the source code in the Android Open Source Project. However, at that time, the new OS was not available even to users of Pixel smartphones. Enthusiasts have already started releasing the first builds of alternative firmware based on Android 12, but the manufacturers have not yet released official updates for smartphones.

Now the situation has changed, and stable Android 12 has become available for the first batches of smartphones - branded Google Pixel models. To install Android 12, you need a Pixel 3 / Pixel 3 XL or a newer Pixel model.

Google also announced that Android 12 will launch for Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi smartphones "later this year." Release dates may vary by model, region and operator.

Let us remind you that Android 12 brought with it a lot of innovations. Chief among these is a new visual design with a cross-platform design language called Material You with wallpaper-adaptive color themes. Also in Android 12 there are new customizable widgets, an updated curtain from which you can control smart home systems, an updated Always On screen, improved auto-rotate and picture-in-picture mode, long-awaited long screenshots of the entire page, a new shutdown menu, improved performance and many security innovations.
