Samsung Display holds 48% of the smartphone display market in the first half of 2021


The specialists of the analytical company Strategy Analytics have summed up the results of the first half of 2021 in the market of displays for smartphones. According to their calculations, the volume of this market in monetary terms amounted to $ 21 billion, and its growth in annual terms is expressed in double digits.

The market leader is Samsung Display. According to the results of the reporting period, the South Korean company received 48% of all revenue. It is followed by BOE Technology and Tianma Microelectronics with 15% and 8% respectively. It is easy to calculate that these three manufacturers account for 71% of the smartphone display market.

Stephen Entwistle, Vice President of Strategy Analytics, said: “We forecast that seasonal demand for high quality display technology, especially foldable displays, will drive further market growth. However, the continuing shortage of display drivers will affect the supply of mainstream smartphone displays. ”
