Yandex began to build a plant for the production of servers near Ryazan

The Yandex team announced the start of construction of a plant for the production of server equipment together with the Lanit group of companies, the manufacturer of computer equipment Gigabyte, and VTB Bank.

The agreement to establish a joint venture was signed on June 3 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The enterprise must design servers using Yandex developments and technologies, and then offer its products in Russia and abroad.

Now the construction of the plant has begun. The industrial complex is located not far from Ryazan, on the territory of the Ryazansky industrial park. The choice in favor of Ryazan was made due to the good transport accessibility, the availability of the necessary communications, and the proximity to universities that train specialized specialists, primarily the Radio Engineering University.

As the press service of Yandex notes, the plant will produce equipment under the Openyard trademark. Planned products include servers, storage systems, gateways, and smart device components.

The total area of the complex is eight hectares. At the first stage, production lines, laboratories, and test areas will be created, where all operations will be performed, from the surface mounting of components to testing of finished products.

At the initial stage, it is planned to invest over a billion rubles in production. Commissioning work under the leadership of Gigabyte should begin in the third quarter of 2022, and by the end of 2022 the plant will release the first server.
