From next year, Xiaomi smartphones will be assembled in Pakistan

Do not be surprised if the box of a brand new Redmi or Poco, bought next year, says Made in Pakistan - Xiaomi is expanding the geography of its phones production, and in January 2022 they will begin to be assembled in Pakistan. This data was disclosed in a statement by Xiaomi's local partner, Air Link Communication Limited, to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The manufacturing agreement will reportedly be between Xiaomi and Select Technologies Limited, which is a subsidiary of Air Link Communication Limited. Interestingly, it is indicated that Select Technologies will be able to manufacture smartphones of certain brands. And it is not yet clear whether we are talking only about the brands of Xiaomi itself (actually Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco), or smartphones from other manufacturers will also be produced at the Select Technologies plant.

Air Link Communication Limited said the new investment will have a significant positive impact on the company's financial outlook. The volume of investments in production has not been disclosed, but the company plans to produce from 2.5 to 3 million smartphones annually, and revenue is projected at $ 450 million per year. Air Link owns a significant part of the Xiaomi smartphone distribution network in Pakistan, and the new project will only strengthen the company's position in the market. Well, for Xiaomi itself, this project is important for strengthening its own positions in the global market.
