Redmi K50 will return a sub-screen fingerprint scanner

The announcement of smartphones of the Redmi K50 line is approaching, in which, according to the latest information from Chinese sources, a sub-screen fingerprint scanner will appear. Sources point out that Redmi is going to use this solution to improve the design of the device, although traditional fingerprint scanners (back and side) are still often more accurate.

In the Redmi K40 series, the company has moved the fingerprint scanner to the side panel under the power button of the device, although smartphones use OLED panels, which have long been able to work with sub-screen fingerprint scanners. Redmi went with this to slightly reduce the cost of manufacturing the smartphone and keep the price at an attractive level.

The same source also claims that the Redmi K50 Pro + will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 898 SoC, which will be manufactured using a 4nm manufacturing process. This platform is due to be presented in December this year.

The standard version of the Redmi K50 is expected to be released earlier. The smartphone is to be powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC, a 6.6-inch flat OLED panel made by Samsung, and a 5000mAh battery with 67W fat charging support.

Lu Weibing, the current President of Xiaomi Group China and CEO of Redmi, has confirmed that Redmi will not be releasing the Redmi K40S as a full new generation of the series called Redmi K50 is on its way.
