The Josephson C705 is a multipurpose studio microphone

The C705 is a cardioid condenser microphone using the large diameter center mount single diaphragm capsule borrowed from the C715, as well as a discrete FET input circuit and a balanced transformerless output circuit as in the C716.

The capsule employs a five-micron gold-plated diaphragm and a precision machined surface. This combination, according to the manufacturer, provides natural and extended high frequencies with an improved proximity effect. This combination is claimed to help reduce hiss when recording vocals with varying tone coloration by carefully choosing the distance and angle to the microphone. The device is also suitable for detailed recording of instruments without sharpness and effective interaction with various preamps with input stages due to its low output impedance.

The body of this model is reportedly made of case-hardened steel with a unique offset grating support structure that greatly reduces internal reflections. The capsule design is internally cushioned, and the hard black microfibre coating obtained during the hardening process should ensure a long service life in the studio and on stage.
