Yandex courier robots to start working in Dubai

The Yandex team announced an agreement of intent for the development of unmanned technologies with Majid Al Futtaim. As a result of the agreement, Yandex.Rover courier robots will start delivering products from Carrefour stores in Dubai.

According to the press service, Majid Al Futtaim is one of the largest malls, retail and leisure operators in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

Delivery by Yandex rovers from Carrefour supermarkets will become available to users in 2022 as part of a pilot program. In the MAF Carrefour app, shoppers will be able to follow the robot with their order in real-time.

Yandex.Rovers independently plan a safe route, see approaching vehicles and pedestrians, and move at speeds up to 8 km / h on sidewalks or other pedestrian areas.

Such robots have been operating in several districts of Moscow since the end of 2020, delivering products from stores and Yandex.Food orders. In August 2021, Yandex.Rovers began delivering orders on campuses of US universities, and at the end of October, it was announced the start of work at Russian Post to deliver parcels from 27 branches in Moscow.
