Redmi 9A and Samsung Galaxy A12 became the most popular smartphones in 2021 in Russia

Analysts of M.Video-Eldorado shared interesting statistics and made a rating of the most popular brands and models of smartphones among Russians for 2021. For the tenth year in a row, Samsung has been the leader in terms of unit sales in Russia. The second place at the end of the year will be taken by Xiaomi for the first time (including the Poco sub-brand). Apple will rise to third place among manufacturers. The top five manufacturers also included the Chinese Realme (for the first time) and Honor, which successfully launched the Honor 50 series at the end of the year.

The bestseller among smartphone models this year was the budget Redmi 9A in the version with 32 GB of internal flash memory. The ranking also includes iPhone 11 (128 GB), Samsung Galaxy A12 (32 and 64 GB) and Xiaomi Redmi 9 (64 GB). 

At the same time, according to the aggregate volume of sales of all versions, the Samsung Galaxy A12 is the best-selling model. In monetary terms, only Apple devices were in the top 5: iPhone 11 (128 and 64 GB), iPhone 12 (128 GB), iPhone 12 Pro Max (256 GB) and iPhone 12 Pro (128 GB).

According to M.Video-Eldorado, the smartphone market in Russia for the 11 months of 2021 showed an increase of about 27%. The market volume at the end of 2020 amounted to about 570 billion rubles, thus, in 2021, if this dynamics persist, demand can reach about 720-730 billion rubles. 

In physical terms, sales in the Russian market may amount to about 30-31 million units, slightly below 2020, but at the level of 2019. The highest dynamics is shown by smartphones above 50,000 rubles - sales can grow year-on-year by 70% in units and 75% in money.
