The global cellular baseband market revenue in Q3 2021 will reach US$8.15 billion


Strategy Analytics released a report saying that Q3 global cellular baseband market revenue in 2021 increased by 23.3%, reaching 8.15 billion US dollars (about 51.508 billion yuan), a record high.

According to the report, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung LSI, UNISOC, and Intel occupy the top five in terms of mobile phone baseband revenue share in Q3 2021.

  • Qualcomm maintained its lead with a 55% revenue share, followed by MediaTek (29%) and Samsung LSI (9%) .
  • 5G baseband chips account for 70% of Q3 baseband revenue in 2021 .
  • The average selling price (ASP) of the baseband market increased by 32% as the 5G baseband mix increased.

Strategy Analytics said that the 5G cycle is still in the early stages, and Qualcomm is expected to increase baseband shipments and revenue in 2022 by increasing foundry capacity. As MediaTek shifts its focus to 5G, UNISOC is expected to capture LTE market share from MediaTek in 2022.
