Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications held a seminar on the development of integrated circuits

According to the official website of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, on March 17, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications held a seminar on the development of integrated circuits.

Xu Kun, president of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, pointed out that integrated circuits are a strategic, basic, and leading industry that supports the country's economic and social development and safeguards national security, and has become a key symbol of a strong country in science and technology and industry. After careful preparation, the school is about to set up the School of Integrated Circuits, concentrating on vigorously promoting the construction and development of integrated circuit disciplines.

Xu Kun said that inviting Peng Lianmao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a double-appointed professor of BIT and the future dean of the School of Integrated Circuits, will greatly promote the development of the integrated circuit discipline of BIT. Later, Xu Kun issued a letter of appointment to Academician Peng Lianmao as a double-appointed professor and the dean of the School of Integrated Circuits.

At the seminar, Academician Peng Lianmao made a special report entitled "Development Trend of Semiconductor Industry and Opportunities and Challenges of Carbon-based Electronic Technology", starting from the analysis of the current situation of the semiconductor industry, and discussed silicon-based microelectronics The limit of technology, put forward the advantages and importance of carbon-based electronics in the post-Moore era to accelerate the development of semiconductor electronics industry, demonstrated the research results of Academician Peng and his team, and prospected the commercialization of carbon-based technology. Academician Peng pointed out that he hoped that Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Peking University could join hands to build a carbon-based electronic technology ecosystem with the opportunity of carbon-based electronics development.

According to Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Academician Peng Lianmao is mainly engaged in electron microscopy and carbon-based nanoelectronics research. In the field of electron microscopy, a theoretical framework that can accurately handle reflection and transmission electron diffraction, elastic and inelastic electron scattering in general material systems has been developed, and methods for determining the structure of materials and a library of important parameters required are established. In the field of carbon-based electronics, a complete set of new technologies for undoped carbon-based CMOS integrated circuits have been developed. For the first time, carbon nano transistors with performance close to the theoretical limit and gate length of only 5 nanometers have been prepared.
